    The assault on a KFC customer at Shah Alam i-City came after the outlet ran out of chicken and not because of any racist remark, said the witness who filmed the incident and posted it online.

    The witness, who only wanted to be known as Jess, said victim Danny Ng had angrily told the staff: "If there's no more chicken, you tell us lah!"

    She told reporters yesterday that the staff then replied: "You jangan kurang ajar (don't be rude)."

  • Botak Court order came too late to stop Saudi journalist's deportation
    A High Court judge here Sunday granted an interim order to lawyers representing Saudi journalist Mohammad Najeeb A. Kashgari, also known as Hamza Kashgari, to bar his deportation by Malaysian authorities, according to news reports.

    However, it was too late for the 23-year-old Kashgari, who was detained at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport last Thursday at the request of the Saudi Arabian authorities.

    Kashgari was deported earlier Sunday, a police spokesman said.

    He was handed over to Saudi officials and flown back Sunday morning.

    Flights arrangements were handled by the Saudi authorities, the spokesman said.

  • Ah Chong Arowana declared world's top breed by international body

    It's official -- the highly prized Malaysian golden arowana has been declared as the best golden arowana species in the world by an international body.

    CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species and Wild Fauna and Flora) had certified the species, which was unique to Malaysia, as the best, Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir said.

    Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has become the "most followed" Malaysian politician on Twitter, with over 419,000 followers to date, reported the Wall Street Journal.

    The paper noted that the number of Najib followers surpassed Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's by more than three times.
